The Party's Over

Satch "Old Man River" Gillespie

Our beloved Satch has left the building. He had a good run. He loved and he was loved-- very, very loved. He died in my arms, and in the arms of Big Red. I honestly don't think he felt a thing. Our vet totally kicked it. (Well, okay, the preliminary bit when the vet tech showed us the brochure with "all the lovely memorial tributes" we could buy was a little... distracting. But really, other than that, totally kicked it.)

We will miss him. Forever.

Good-bye, Satch. Healing hugs to you, Spike.

So sorry about your buddy, Satch. I also have a grumpy, aggressive dog, and he is also getting older and grayer. I dread the day he won't be my "problem" dog anymore.

So sorry. This is always so hard.

I have two of my buddies buried in the backyard. One of them has been there for 25 years. I might dig her up just to check on the bone cancer that supposedly killed her. Then again, I might just leave her alone and always wonder.

My feelings go out to you over your loss. I too have been honored to have had many good and long old friends of the canine and feline persuasion to entrust me with their care and friendship. When they can go with your help and care, it is so very difficult. Too bad they live such short lives. You will recover, and cherish the memories.
